Ben Foster has just signed on to star alongside Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale in the upcoming thriller titled Contraband. This film is a remake of an Icelandic thriller called, Reykjavic-Rotterdam.
The story is about a former smuggler(Wahlberg) trying to be a law obiding citizen working as a night guard. That changes when his wife’s brother (who got him the job) botches a smuggling run, his life threatened and he is dragged in for one more job. Foster plays the night guard’s best friend and right hand man, who helps him take on the dangerous job.
Aaron Guzikowski, the writer behind 2009 Blacklist spec script Prisoners, wrote the script, and the star and producer of the original 2008 film, Baltasar Kormakur, will direct the remake for Working Title.
I have always been a fan of Foster and this story sounds pretty cool and a perfect fit for him. What are your thoughts of this news?
