Are you ready to see Robert Downey Jr. in a musical?

Get ready, because Warner Bros. is developing an untitled musical comedy for Robert Downey Jr. where he will play “one of two Broadway songwriters who find themselves creatively and financially bankrupt when their big-break musical is a huge flop. Searching for some inspiration for their comeback, they take jobs as counselors, teaching singing and dancing at the theater camp they attended as kids.”
Brian Yorkey will write the script and lyrics.  The music will be composed by Tom Kitt. These guys are best known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera Next To Normal, which won 3 Tony Awards, including Best Score.
The big question is can Robert Downey Jr. sing? According to the article that this news comes from Downey is “a gifted singer.”
