Whether you’re happily (or not-so-happily) single or one with an ‘ole ball-and-chain, there’s something for everyone on Netflix Watch Instant this Valentine’s Day! Here are few of my favorite titles to help you get through the day or help you get in the mood.

Non-Traditional Love

Harold & Maude

This off-beat classic highlights the controversial love between young Harold and the more-than-middle-aged Maude. While Harold is young and rich, he’s also obsessed with death and doesn’t relate to ladies in his age group – despite his mother’s persistence. It’s in the arms of Maude that he seems to find happiness, and he’s forever changed.

Queued Up: Valentines Day EditionWristcutters: A Love Story

This quirky indie from 2006 took my by surprise. A young recently dumped Zia (played by Patrick Fugit), cuts his wrists and ends up in a weird limbo afterlife way station that is all too similar to the worst parts about life. He hears his old girlfriend offed herself after he did, so he goes on a search to find her and meets Mikal (Shannyn Sossamon) along the way. Love blossoms even in death.

Chasing Amy

Often regarded as the best Kevin Smith movie, it showcases the interesting guy-meets-girl, guy-falls-for-girl, guy-finds-out-she’s-a-lesbian storyline that we all know too well. Am I right?

But seriously, balancing the raunch, laughs, sex jokes, and managing to have real characters you care about, it’s understandable why this is many people’s favorite Smith film.

Gnomeo & Juliet

It’s gnomes! The story of Romeo & Juliet has never been cuter, and as this is a children’s movie you know it doesn’t have the original dark ending.

Never Been Kissed

One of Drew Barrymore’s earlier hits, this female take on 21 Jump Street is surprisingly sweet. Every geeky, outcast girl loves this movie thanks to Drew’s 2nd chance at popularity and standing up for the smart girls out there over the barbies. The teacher/student relationship is a bit suspect since Matthew Vartan doesn’t know she’s of age at first, but that moment on the baseball field is one that many girls will always sigh over.
