Steven C. Miller’s action-thriller The Aggression Scale doesn’t bow until next month’s SXSW film festival, but you can have a look-see at its pulsating, wordless trailer below, courtesy of Heat Vision.
Detailing a war between four hitmen and two teenagers over $500,000, The Aggression Scale stars a mix of up-and-comers like Fabianne Therese (John Dies at the End) and veteran character actors, including Ray Wise (Twin Peaks, RoboCop). The film is reportedly inspired by A History of Violence and violent ‘80s genre flicks, but I also detect a little bit of Panic Room in the home invasion angle. Either way, it looks like the worst moving day ever.
The Aggression Scale will have its world premiere as part of SXSW’s “Midnighters” slate, a proving ground for potential cult classics. Anchor Bay seems to like its chances, as Heat Vision also notes that the company has already snapped up the rights to the film a month before the festival.
And in case you are wondering about the title – the “Aggression Scale” is a clinical test often used by psychologists to measure violent tendencies in adolescents. How apropos!
