This is the type of trailer (thanks in no small part to the narrator’s voice) that gives me chills in the theater because I get so excited to see the film! I still got that feeling watching this trailer on my laptop just now. There are elements of so many great films and television that I grew up on in Sony Picture Animations’s Hotel Transylvania I hardly know what to do with myself. I feel like it’s an ode to Looney Tunes, Transylvania 6-5000, High Spirits and Haunted Honeymoon. Pure speculation on my part having only seen the trailer, but I got elements of all of these out of it, especially Looney Tunes and Transylvania 6-5000.
This film has a great cast of characters and amazing comedic voices. To start, it’s finally happened, their names tripped me up so much when The Lonely Island hit it big that I can’t think of Andy Samberg without thinking of Adam Sandler, (no, I don’t mean together) and now they are in the same movie. When speaking of this movie don’t expect much from me with regard to keeping them straight. Not to mention names like Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Molly Shannon, David Koechner and Luenell to Cee-Lo Green and Selena Gomez. There are some heavy hitters here kids, animated and ready to bring the laughs, in movie monster form no less. I’m giddy over this film! U.S. release is slated for September 21, 2012.
