HBO’s sexy fantasy drama True Blood is returning this June, whether you like it or not.
The network struck gold with the whole vampire love-triangle craze back in 2008 and the show has since grown to be HBO’s most successful program since The Sopranos. But what started as an incredibly fun and additive take on the sex-crazed supernatural has slowly turned into a jumbled and unfocused freak show with lead characters I stopped caring for a long time ago. I’m looking at you, Sookie Stackhouse. It’s a mystery to me why everyone falls in love with you.
My negative feelings aside, True Blood remains an undisputed fan favorite with plenty of camp and water cooler talk to be had. And I’ll still be watching and complaining all summer long, just hoping that the few likable characters left (Jessica, Eric, Jason on a good day) will be able to squeeze some life into this show about dead people, vampires or otherwise.
True Blood returns June 10, and here’s the teaser trailer to prove it. As expected, lots of sex and nakedness, blood, a vague voiceover, and worried looks into the camera.
