The Alien franchise has been all over the web lately, primarily due to Ridley Scott’s epic return to direct Prometheus which is soon to be released. However hype is slowly growing for what could be one this years dark horses- Alien: Colonial Marines. Despite the large cult following of the Alien franchise, the various video games spawned from Scott’s original vision have never quite hit the mark leaving Alien related video games with somewhat of a tainted name. However Colonial Marines, officially announced at last years E3, seems to be the truest video game incarnation of the films, based on James Cameron’s sequel Aliens.
Although the game was originally set for a 2012 release date Gearbox Software have announced that the game will be released on February 12 2013. This is a considerable delay, but this not the first we’ve heard of lately with both Bio Shock: Infinite and Tomb Raider delayed to next year. To honour the event of a final release date Gearbox have released a trailer show casing ,in greater detail than we’ve seen before, the eerie environments of the U.S.S Sulaco as well the devastating Xenomorphs.
