Welcome one and all to the launch of a community podcast project named Film Club, the first rule of which is that you DO talk about Film Club! The whole point and purpose to this is simple, like many of our wonderful writers here at Screen Invasion and like many of you beloved readers both myself, Mal Foster (@iammalkovich) and Daniel Sarath (@danielsarath) LOVE film. So much so that we want to watch films and talk films together, with you.
Each week a different movie will be selected by myself, Dan and of course you. After the film is selected and announced we’ll all head off to watch it and then come back the next week to discuss it on the next podcast episode. Meanwhile in between shows, we will be conversing at our little movie based bunker aka THE FILM CLUB MESSAGE BOARDS. Of course you can always leave your initial reactions right here at the programmes HQ, but with this project we’re trying to take the medium of cinema and use it to expand and extend what we have here into a community arena and one stop archive of film.
Consider it a metaphorical tree branch upon which we all can sit, a place where we can all get together over a wide range of films. From kitchen sink dramas to foreign language action epics we intend to cover all bases, to expand our horizons and head out into a truly epic journey that will cross time, continents and even galaxies.
To get the ball rolling Dan has picked a stone cold classic as our first film in the initiative, Ridley Scott’s sci fi horror, Alien.
