Due to a lawsuit filed by the mobile phone company Motorola in 2010 the ruling judge has advised that there should be cease-and-desist order on sales of XBOX 360 Slim consoles across the country. The lawsuit follows a claim by Motorola that the XBOX 360 infringes on five of the mobile phone company’s patents related to “secure wireless communication and transmission of video content between controller devices and game consoles,”.
The decision now passes to International Trade Commission to whom Microsoft paid the argument that, by banning sales of the XBOX 360, other console competitors like Nintendo and Sony would profit on Microsoft’s misfortune. If a decision is reached by the ITC then the case goes to the desk of President Barack Obama who will have the final say. It should be noted that Microsoft was an enormous sponsor of the Obama campaign in 2008, donating $852,167.
What are your thoughts on this? Should Microsoft face such a serious sentence or is the good Judge oblivious to the way the console war is fought? Sound off in the comments below!
