If (like me) you’ve been worrying that 2012 will lack music and fanfare after Rock of Ages is released on June 15, have no fear: Les Misérables is here!
Yesterday saw the promise of a teaser trailer and the release of new pictures featuring Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman), Javert (Russell Crowe), and Fantine (Anne Hathaway), as well as the first pictures of three additional main characters–Cosette (Amanda Seyfried), Marius (Eddie Redmayne), and Éponine (Samantha Barks).

Per yesterday’s promise, the first teaser trailer was released earlier today! As Fantine (Hathaway) sings “I Dreamed a Dream,” the trailer shows scenes of despair and desire, and struggle and strife, the likes of which only Les Misérables can deliver.

Les Misérables is directed by Tom Hooper, also stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter, and is currently set to be released on December 14, 2012.
