Hyde Park on Hudson released its first trailer this weekend, giving viewers a taste of Bill Murray’s sophisticated portrayal of FDR in a historical film set in June 1939. The plot focuses on a weekend when the Roosevelt’s host the King and Queen of England for their first trip to America at their summer home in upstate New York.
The official synopsis states:
“But international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of FDR’s domestic establishment, as wife, mother, and mistresses all conspire to make the royal weekend an unforgettable one. Seen through the eyes of Daisy, Franklin’s neighbor and intimate, the weekend will produce not only a special relationship between two great nations, but, for Daisy – and through her, for us all – a deeper understanding of the mysteries of love and friendship.”
Alongside Bill Murray, the cast includes Laura Linney, Olivia Williams, Olivia Colman, Samuel West, Eleanor Bron, and Elizabeth Marvel. Together, the cast comes together in the trailer to create what appears to be an accurate portrayal of a historic weekend. The film is directed by Roger Mitchell and will be released on December 7th, 2012.
