The latest trailer for the upcoming game Hitman: Absolution, called “Attack of the Saints”, has come under a lot of flack recently. The trailer showed Agent 47 thoroughly beating down a group of scantly clad female assassins disguised as nuns. People criticised the trailers portrayal of sexualised violence, however IO Interactive’s Tore Blystad said that they did not intend to offend people.
Blystad explained how the trailer was based around one of the levels in Hitman: Absolution and explained the logic behind the trailer:
The Hitman games as a series has always been extreme in many ways…The religious themes have been there from the very beginning, along with outlandish party scenes. And there are a lot of movie influences in Hitman Absolution, like Tarantino and Rodriguez. The grindhouse theme is something that we’re using throughout the game. It tends more towards sixties exploitation movies – these were a fascination [for us] because they were so extreme.”
One question left unanswered, one of the more important, is what kind of assassin goes into battle wearing that little clothing? It is no surprise 47 made short work of them. What are your thoughts on the trailer? The comment box below is for you!
