The Expendables seemed to let a lot of people down the first time around, oddly enough for trying too hard to create a story. This may be our own fault; fans of these men built this film up in our minds so much that there may have been no other outcome possible than to be at least a little let down. Putting together all the action stars that we have grown up with in one film, not to mention the newer ones that we have all had crushes on (yes fellas, you too) was a dream come true. I’m looking forward to The Expendables 2 as nothing more or less than an action-packed, ridiculous thrill ride. Based on the description and trailer below from Lionsgate, that may be just what we get this time around. Despite any misgivings I may have…I still get positively giddy as I watch this trailer over and over again.
The Expendables are reunited when Mr. Church enlists them to take on a seemingly simple job. When things go wrong, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory, where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time – five tons of weapons-grade plutonium, more than enough to change the balance of power in the world. No matter what this film turns out to be, how could you not be excited about Chuck Norris joining the cast? That’s just plain awesome no matter which way you slice it. Look for The Expendables 2 on August 17!
