There’s a heaviness that accompanies all P.T. Anderson films. That heaviness strengthens even seemingly dull moments in his characters lives. And in the new teaser trailer for The Master (yes, cut by P.T. Anderson himself), Joaquin Phoenix building a sand castle must have some incredible significance. That, or the music supplied by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood will leave you feeling mystified by the sculpting of sand. Everything matters in a P.T. Anderson film, like Kubrick before him, nothing is left to chance.
The synopsis:
