It’s that time again: another weekly Blu-Ray/DVD Roundup! Here are the new releases for the week and my opinion on whether you should Skip It! Rent It! Or Buy It!

This week has a nice amount of quality releases. Some of these had smaller theatrical releases, so they’re definitely worth the watch at home. Jiro Dreams of Sushi or Footnote didn’t get much traction outside of major cities, so be sure to check them. This week is the perfect time to get familiar with some really cool films.

And as usual please do not hesitate to share what DVDs and Blu-Rays you’ve bought recently, or plan to buy this week, in the comments. Let everyone know what you think of the latest DVD/Blu-Ray releases! I love hearing other peoples opinions on films!

Skip It!

  1. Meeting Evil, (starring Leslie Bibb, Samuel L. Jackson, Luke Wilson and Peyton List), DVD. Heard absolutely nothing about this film and it didn’t get good reviews.
  2. Age of the Dragons, (starring Corey Sevier, Vinnie Jones, Danny Glover, and Sofia Pernas), DVD and Blu-Ray. This got horrible reviews as well.
  3. Brake, (starring Stephen Dorff, Chyler Leigh, JR Bourne and Tom Berenger), DVD and Blu-Ray. Here is the trailer of the film. Another quiet release, another poorly reviewed film.

Rent It!

  1. Silent House, (starring Elizabeth Olsen, Adam Trese, Eric Sheffer Stevens, Julia Taylor Ross, and Adam Barnett), DVD and Blu-Ray. I’d give this movie a chance, because Elizabeth Olsen is a strong, young actress and the one-shot premise definitely sounds interesting! Watch the trailer here.
  2. Boss: Season 1, DVD. Check out Cat’s review of the first disc here.

Buy It!

  1. The Deep Blue Sea, (starring Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston, Simon Russell Beale, Harry Hadden-Paton, Ann Mitchell, Jolyon Coy, Karl Johnson, Sarah Kants, Oliver Ford Davies, and Barbara Jefford), DVD and Blu-Ray. It has gotten great reviews and has two amazing actors in Tom Hiddleston and Rachel Weisz. Here is the trailer of the film.
  2. Jiro Dreams of Sushi, (starring Jiro Ono and Sukiyabashia Ono), DVD and Blu-Ray. Who doesn’t love sushi? Here is our review of the film.
  3. Footnote, (starring Shlomo Bar-Aba, Lior Ashkenazi, Aliza Rosen and Yuval Scharf), DVD and Blu-Ray. I have seen nothing but great reviews for this film.
  4. Hey Arnold! Season Two, Part 2, DVD. Who doesn’t love the football head? One of the best old school shows ever.
  5. Treasure Island, (starring Eddie Izzard, Toby Regbo, Rupert Penry-Jones, Daniel Mays, Philip Glenister, Donald Sutherland, Elijah Wood, Shirley Henderson, Nina Sosanya, and Geoff Bell), DVD and Blu-Ray from Sonar Entertainment and Vivendi Entertainment.
