I have been waiting quite a while to see something from this particular film. Sleepwalk With Me is comedian Mike Birbiglia‘s first co-directorial outing and what a topic to choose. The film is loosely based on the comedians actual real life experiences. He originally turned this material from his stand-up into a one-man show then into a book and now we reach the film adaption. If you don’t already know who Birbigs is, then I highly recommend checking out his material. He is a superb stand-up and all around funny guy. I’ve been listening to Birbiglia now for almost seven years and I even got to see him once when he did a show at my college in Tennessee. It’s awesome to see that on his first feature film the amount of success and praise the film has received. Sleepwalk With Me won the ‘Best of Next!’ Audience Award at Sundance this past January. It has also been featured in many other film festivals around the world. The film is set to be released August 24, 2012. Check out the charming trailer below.
A burgeoning stand-up comedian struggles with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore.
The film also features some other stand-ups that I really enjoy such as Marc Maron (WTF podcast), Wyatt Cynac, Hannibal Buress, Ira Glass, Amy Schumer, and Kristen Schaal. Even though I have yet to see this film, I highly urge anyone to check it out if it’s available in their area.
