SYTYCD Highlight: Witney and Chehon "I Will Always Love You"

Well you knew as soon as you saw the song title, this was going to be a tear jerker. One of the last dances of the night, and the first of the night to get a standing ovation, is our SYTYCD highlight. It was Witney and Chehon performing a Stacey Tookey contemporary piece to Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. To my knowledge, this is the first time this show has used her music since her untimely death. I won’t give anymore away. Just watch the dance. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Stacey Tookey is a monster. Just gotta get that out of the way. Everyone praises Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Nappy Tabs, etc, and all their praises are well deserved. But Tookey has done some amazing pieces on this show. I mean, who could forget Mad World by Billy and Ade. Now, onto the dancers. Chehon caught my eye in Vegas with his amazing solo, and Whitney breezed through the competition as a ballroom dancer. This is a power couple, and I’m very happy the judges chose to save them last week, so that they could deliver this.

And can we talk about the lift at 2:04 please! Holy mother of god. The strength from Chehon. The grace from Witney. Amazing. Probably the best number of the season so far, and one of the top contemporary numbers ever on the show. Period.
