THE AMAZING LEGO VIDEO GAME SERIES – 5 OF THE BEST

Lego has branched out a fair bit over the years. This is most prominently seen in it’s critically acclaimed Lego Video Game Series, almost all of which are worth a look over. But if you are going to play some of them, which ones are the best do so? Let’s find out as we count down the top five games in the Lego Video Game Series!

5 – Lego Star Wars: The Video Game

If this game hadn’t been both incredibly fun and a smash hit the rest of the games in the series may not have come about. Pretty much everything in later editions of the series followed in this games footsteps, from playable characters, to using building and destruction to solve puzzles, to the light hearted and funny tone. It may not be the best, but it’s certainly the most influential. The fact that it’s Star Wars helps too.

4 – Lego Batman: The Video Game

Why is this on here? Well that’s pretty simple… he’s the god damn Batman. The game didn’t really break the mould that previous games had set, and wasn’t particularly innovative, but what it DID do is polish what had come before it to a blinding sheen. The franchise choice also helped enormously, as there are many incredible heroes and villains in the Batman universe to both fight and play as.

3 – Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy

It would be a grave injustice to place the first Star Wars game on here and not this gem. Part of the reason this game was received better than the first was that people like the original trilogy more, but it was also just plain better. The environments were more luscious, the game-play was solid, and the humour was perfect.

2 – Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4

This was perhaps the renaissance of the Lego games. It was all about exploration and secrets. Also fun were the’student in peril’ missions, which added both to the world feeling that much larger and adding to the play time.

1 – Lego Batman 2 – DC Super Heroes

No other Lego game has boasted such a huge cast of awesome characters, especially from different sources than the main franchise it’s a part of. This isn’t just a Batman game, it’s a comic cross over event in video game form. What’s more, this is an actual open world game, and it suits the style perfectly. It is simply the best in every aspect. Though I recommend every game on this list as excellent, if you are to play only a single of these games, play this one.
