Every Monday, we highlight one song that you may not have heard of, may not have heard in ages, or one that we just can’t seem to get out of our heads. Enjoy!
We were saddened to hear the news that Scott McKenzie, the artist behind the great classic “If You’re Going to San Francisco”, passed away several days ago. He was 73 years old. I’ve made several a trip up and down the California coast line in my time in Los Angeles, and everytime I do, this song comes on. It’s a favorite of ours, and so today, we honor McKenize with our Music Monday, “If You’re Going to San Francisco.”
Complete “If You’re Going To San Francisco” Lyrics
If you’re going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you’re going to San Francisco
You’re gonna meet some gentle people there
For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair
All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There’s a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion
For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
