Blu-Ray/DVD Round-up 9/18: THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, MODERN FAMILY, SUPERNATURAL and more!

It’s that time again! Time for a weekly Blu-Ray/DVD roundup. Here’s the roundup and my opinion on whether you should Buy It! Skip It! or Rent It!

There’s an interesting assortment of genres to choose from this week for the Buy It’s! It really depends on what you’re in the mood for. Our must-watch this week is The Cabin in the Woods. Not only is Thor in it (for the eye candy) but it flips horror genre tropes on its head.

Skip It!

The Babymakers, (starring Olivia Munn, Aisha Tyler, Paul Schneider, Collette Wolfe, and Wood Harris), Blu-Ray and DVD. I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews about this film.
Chico & Rita, (starring Mario Guerra, Limara Meneses, and Eman Xor Ona), Blu-Ray and DVD.
Detachment, (starring Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody and Lucy Liu), DVD. Here’s our review of the film.
Salvation Boulevard, (starring Jennifer Connelly, Marisa Tomei, Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, Greg Kinnear, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Jim Gaffigan), DVD. Check out our review.
Bait, (starring Phoebe Tonkin, Sharni Vinson and Alex Russell), Two Disco Combo and DVD. Very little buzz around this one and the few things out there were not very nice.

Rent It!

Hysteria, (starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett and Ashley Jensen), Blu-Ray and DVD. Here is the movie trailer and our soundtrack review. Not familiar with this film, but based on reviews I think it’s worth a watch!
The Woman in the Fifth, (starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Ethan Hawke, Joanna Kulig, and Samir Guesmi), DVD.
The Magic of Belle Isle, (starring Morgan Freeman, Virginia Madsen, Emma Fuhrmann, Kenan Thompson, and Fred Willard), Blu-Ray and DVD.
Battlefield America, (starring Tristen M. Carter, Kida Burns, Zach Belandres and Tracy Heggins), Blu-Ray and DVD.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3, (starring George Lopez, Emily Osment, Madison Pettis, Odette Yustman, and Miguel Ferrer), Combo Packs, Blu-Ray and DVD. This series of films definitely has its own fan base.
Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap, (starring Mos Def, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice-T, and Kanye West), Blu-Ray and DVD. I know there are plenty of people out there who love rap music and will want to check this out.

Buy It!

The Cabin in the Woods, (starring Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Jesse Williams, Chris Hemsworth, Fran Kranz, Kristen Connolly, Brian J. White and Amy Acker), Blu-Ray and DVD. I saw plenty of great reviews for this film! Here is our review of the Blu-Ray and movie.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, (starring Bill Nighy, Maggie Smith, Tom Willkinson, and Dev Patel), Blu-Ray and DVD. Enter to win the Blu-Ray here.
Katy Perry: Part of Me, (starring Katy Perry), Two Disc Combo, Three Disco Combo, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
The Salt of Life, (starring Gianni Di Gregorio, Valeria Cavalli, Kristina Cepraga, Valeria De Franciscis, and Aylin Prandi), DVD.
Army Wives Season Six Part 1, Blu-Ray and DVD. This is a tremendous show that will really affect you.
Body of Proof: Season Two, Blu-Ray and DVD. I heard a lot of great things about this show.
Hawaii Five-0: The Second Season, Blu-Ray and DVD. Who doesn’t love Hawaii Five-0?
Modern Family: The Complete Third Season, Blu-Ray and DVD. Who doesn’t love Modern Family? Learn about what awards it’s won already here.
Supernatural: The Complete Seventh Season, Blu-Ray and DVD. This show has one heck of a huge fandom!
The Mentalist: The Complete Fourth Season, Blu-Ray and DVD. I’ve recently started watching episodes of this show and absolutely love it!
