It’s a crime that a great movie can sometimes get swept under the rug, it happens so much. Film festivals are great at generating exposure, even if it’s a little bit to these great movies. A perfect example of that is High School. Sure, stoner comedies are a dime a dozen and although this one doesn’t reinvent the bong, it certainly has a lot of funny moments and a ton of great performances. Notably, Michael Chiklis and Adrien Brody, who both play roles that are completely different from anything you’ve ever seen them in before. Especially Brody, who plays Psycho Ed.
Official Synopsis:
Starring Academy Award™ winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Michael Chiklis (“The Shield”, Fantastic Four), Sean Marquette (Seabiscuit), Matt Bush (Piranha 3DD), Colin Hanks (The House Bunny, AMC’s “Mad Men”) and Yeardley Smith (Fox’s “The Simpsons”), High School is the story of soon-to-be valedictorian Henry Burke (Bush) who, after taking a hit of the chronic for the first time, must pass a mandatory drug test administered by his school’s maniacal principal (Chiklis).
Henry is left with two options: fail and lose his college scholarship, or team up with his stoner friend Breaux (Marquette) to steal a high powered ganja from law student-turned-drug-dealer Psycho Ed (Brody) and spike the school’s bake sale brownies, getting the whole school—faculty included—completely stoned out of their minds. After all, if everyone fails—then no one fails. What could possibly go wrong with their half-baked plan?
Special Features:
- Audio Commentary With Executive Producer/Writer/Director John Stalberg, Jr.
