On tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, Marshall and Lily continue their search for a nanny for baby Marvin, while Ted and Robin fight over who is in more of a series relationship. On Barney’s end, he is celebrating his recent move into the single world again with “Bang-Tober Fest”. The episode didn’t bring forward a ton of new information, except for one big indicator of when Ted and Robin will be single again. Let’s take a closer look.
Marshall and Lily are dealing with Lily’s Dad moving in to try and help out with the baby. The couple is interviewing nannies before Lily goes back to work, and they eventually decide on a woman from St. Paul, Minnesota. However, she is stolen away by Barney, and Marshall and Lily quickly realize that he is poaching all of their nanny options in his new scheme to pick up chicks.
From Ted and Robin’s perspective, they spend the episode trying to one up each other about their relationships, bragging about making key copies for their significant others, and meeting their spouse’s parents. It provides some occasional laughs, but more so is used to move the episode along in dull moments. However, in a big revelation, Ted says that both of their relationships will implode by the end of the month. So what does this mean?
Well Robin and Barney could rekindle their relationship in a matter of weeks, and that is a great sign. I really hope they advance to story line to the actual wedding day by the end of the season, rather then staying in the same time period of “alittle ways down the road” that we have been stuck in for the past two seasons. In addition, we know that Ted will be newly single as well, and let’s not forget that at the end of last season, he said that the next person he said “I love you” to for the first time would be the mom. Could we meet the mom by the end of the season? I certainly hope so.
The show wraps up with Lily’s dad revealing to her that he was the one who raised her before she went off to school. Combining this with his day with Marvin, and Lily and Marshall hire him as their nanny. This means that he will be around for much of the season, which is I good sign. I like his character.
Well the foundation is being laid for a big season in regards to the relationships of Barney, Ted, and Robin. We still haven’t seen the big blow up between the three that Ted teased early last season. I still believe that the blowup could in fact happen at the wedding itself, but we will have to wait and see.
