THE GREAT GATSBY & OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL Drop New Posters

A couple of the biggest 2013 releases just released new posters showcasing big characters.

The Great Gatsby was originally scheduled for a December release but with how stacked this month is, it’s no wonder something had to get pushed back. Directed by Baz Luhrman, director of Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet he brings a certain aesthetic to all of his films. He attracted some early buzz for The Great Gatsby when he announced that he’d be shooting it in 3D. What does a 1920’s American Novel need to be shot in 3D for? Well, I guess we’ll see when it hits theaters May 10, 2013.

An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s Long Island-set novel, The Great Gatsby follows Midwesterner Nick Carraway, played by Tobey Maguire, who is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby (Leonard DiCaprio). Soon enough, however, Carraway sees through the cracks of this nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.

Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful will hit theaters on March 8, 2013 and we still don’t know which witch is which! Oz: The Great and Powerful is a prequel to the famous Wizard of Oz and follows Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), Glinda (Michelle Williams) and of course Oz (James Bronco). The newest poster shows an evil green witch in the traditional black hat and gown, but which witch is this – the Wicked Witch of the East or West?

The eyes make me think it’s Weisz, but director Sam Raimi isn’t spilling the beans just yet.

About Kristal Bailey

With a soft spot for movies that fall into the “So Bad They’re Good” category, Kristal Bailey regularly watches B-movies, 80s comedies, and sci-fi from the 50s and 60s. She also refuses to grow up if that means she has to hide her love for Disney and Pixar films. In her free time, she enjoys reading graphic novels or books that are soon to be turned into movies, watching hours and hours of television, and spending way too much time on Twitter.
