Sports fan or not, everyone loves Super Bowl Sunday for the commercials. Advertisers spend well over $1 million dollars for a mere 30 second commercial spot during the biggest football game of the year. Sounds outrageously overpriced but if you consider the number of people that tune in world wide to the Super Bowl each year, that price may be worth it. If you make a memorable Super Bowl commercial, it can literally change your business. It honestly is very hard to come up with a successful Super Bowl Commercial these days. We have all been trained now over the last few decades to expect the best of the best on Super Bowl Sunday and if we don’t see the best, we will complain.
In the social media world we live in today, a bad Super Bowl commercial could turn out the lights on that company’s profit for the year. See what I did there? All in all, whether you’re a sports fan rooting for your team in the big game or just the friend stuck at a party forced to watch, you can expect some entertainment along the way with the extravagance that is Super Bowl Commercials. I have compiled what is to me the top ten from this Super Bowl. You can see last year’s choices right here and then compare/contrast to this year’s showings. I honestly think this year may have beat out last year’s Super Bowl commercials. Check out what I consider the top ten Super Bowl commercials from 2013:
M&M’s ‘Love Ballad’ Commercial featuring Naya Rivera from Glee:
At first I thought this was Hannah Simone from New Girl but then when I looked it up online I realized it was Santana from Glee. I usually enjoy the M&M’s commercials and this year they did not disappoint.
Doritos ‘Goat For Sale’ Crash the Super Bowl Finalist, which I called being the best right here:
I posted the top 5 finalist for this Doritos contest the other day and mentioned that the goat entry was my favorite. Clearly, I have the commercial eye because this Doritos commercial was the first to air. They also showed the one where the dad and his buddies were tempted by his daughter to dress as women for a tea party in exchange for a bag of Doritos.
Toyota RAV4 2013 Big Game Commercial “Wish Granted” Starring Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory:
Honesty, who doesn’t love Kaley Cuoco?! I first had a crush on her in the popular series 8 Simple Rules before she was on The Big Band Theory. She has definitely risen as a star since her beginnings but she is still very fun to watch!
Best Buy – Asking Amy: Official 2013 Best Buy Game Day Commercial featuring Amy Poehler from Parks & Recreation:
I would watch anything with Amy Poehler in it. Seriously, she and a handful of other comedic women have pushed the comedy boundaries in the past ten years.
2013 Budweiser Super Bowl Ad — The Clydesdales: “Brotherhood”:
This Clydesdales Budweiser ad definitely gave me the warm & fuzzy feeling! Don’t lie, it made you feel the same way! Budweiser has consistently come up with some fantastic Super Bowl commercial ads.
Jeep “Whole Again”:
I think Jeep did a fantastic job with this amazingly heartfelt salute to the troops. This was so timely with the horrendous murder of the Navy Seal Chris Kyle. If you didn’t tear up just a little during this commercial, you may have the heart of a grinch.
Mercedes-Benz 2013 commercial “Soul”:
Speaking of not having a heart, this Mercedes commercial with Willem Dafoe as the ‘devil’ was quite enjoyable!
Viva Young – 2013 Taco Bell Game Day Commercial featuring the band fun.:
Although, I’m not much of a fun. fan, this rendition of one of their hit songs along with this pretty funny Taco Bell commercial was a hit!
Bud Light ‘Journey’ 2013 Super Bowl Commerical – Super Bowl XLVII:
Recognize that guy? John White plays Erik Stifler in some of the straight to DVD American Pie movies. I honestly think he is hilarious and was a great choice by Bud Light for this awesome Super Bowl Ad.
OREO – Whisper Fight:
This was a very popular commercial on Twitter. I definitely found it good enough to add to my list but it wasn’t one of my favorites.
Samsung Mobile USA – The Next Big Thing:
I absolutely loved this commercial! I am not a Samsung user (nor do I plan on being one – #TeamiPhone) but the combination of Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and Bob Odenkirk is a phenomenal decision on Samsung’s behalf. Literally three huge comedy legends. Odenkirk may be popular now due to his role on Breaking Bad but he has always been a hilarious comedian which you can see if you watch the Mr. Show show. Obviously, most of America likes Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd thanks to Judd Apatow. (Thank you Judd).
“Hotbots” 2014 Kia Forte Big Game Car Ad:
I wasn’t as enamored with this commercial as most of twitter seemed to be, hence why it is my number 12 in my top 10.
Creepiest commercial of the night goes to: ‘Go Daddy – Perfect Match':
Seriously, one of the creepiest things I’ve seen in quite some time…godaddy.com please erase this from my memory.
