Amidst all the naval and punk rock puns we reported that the first details of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag had surfaced.  Over the weekend, the accompany all the news, a trailer was released featuring Edward Kenway in all his gun-toting glory. Narrated by Black Beard himself, the father and grandfather of the two protagonists, Haytham and Connor, of Assassin’s Creed III, appears to be a lot more exciting than his future descendants. A (young) Ezio Auditore of the Caribbean seas.

Details have also emerged today about this the 6th instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise at a conference held by Ubisoft. According to IGN, the game will be a lot truer to the era that the game is set in, differentiating itself from the other franchises that that dominate pirates in the Caribbean (hint). Similarly, the naval aspects of ACIII will be making a strong return as it will become an integral part of the game, allowing Edward to move between land and sea without without even a cutscene, allowing you to explore the 50 or so areas to explore. While an open world map may seem daunting, especially as Assassin’s Creed which has very set locations, many of the developers from the acclaimed (and massive) Far Cry 3 have been working on Black Flag. No release date has been announced yet.
