Every summer since 2008, me and my wife have headed down to San Diego to take in the wonderment and unique experience that is unlike anything else in the world, Comic Con. The combination of super fans who dress in their favorite pop culture get up and the vast array of world premieres of some of the most popular movies make it a weekend you don’t want to miss.
Well last year, I missed it. Due to the date pushup of a week, I was still in Las Vegas working during the Con, and so I was very happy to see that the schedule had returned to its usual third weekend of July so that I could once again attend this madness. Below, you will see a preview of my action pack weekend that is full of press conferences, world premiere trailers, and round table interviews with some of the hottest names in Hollywood.
Thursday, July 18
Thursday will be the day for me to explore the floor. The floor is always more busy and packed for the weekend warriors, so the first day is the time to go. In addition, the most amount of free stuff is given that day, as all the booths are fresh with supplies. In the course of exploring the floor, I will see the amazing setups that each studio and company have set up, along with catching some of the hottest memorabilia, including hilarious T-shirts and funny accessories to bring out everyone’s inner geek. I will be on the floor until that night, where at 6:30, I will be attending the Dexter Panel in Hall H. I have been a fan of the show ever since I started watching it while Season 5 was airing on showtime, and starting last year, I was caught up and watching with the fans. I’m excited to see what the producers and actors reveal about the ongoing eighth and final season!
Friday, July 19th
Friday will be my day with the undead. Amongst the panels I am most looking forward to in Hall H is the AMC series hit The Walking Dead. There seems to be a lot of questions left unanswered looking forward to the next season, so I can’t wait to see what they will have in store. After that, I will make my way over to Petco Park to take on the Walking Dead Obstacle Course. While I’m a bit worried about my lack of exercise in recent weeks coming back to haunt me, it should provide for some amazing photos and videos for you guys!
Saturday July 20th
Saturday will be another Hall H day for me leading up to what very well could be the highlight of my Comic Con this weekend: the Marvel Press Conference. There, Marvel Studios President and Producer Kevin Feige will be joined by several guests to discuss two highly anticipated sequels: Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I have a couple questions I know I want to ask, leave your questions in the comments below as well and if we like them we may use one!
Sunday July 21st
Sunday will be a light day for me. I would love to attend the Breaking Bad Panel, but I am still half a season behind and don’t want to learn any spoilers. The only thing on my schedule is something that I am very excited about: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It has been one of my favorite shows for years, and I got into it when the cast members came to a class I was in at USC to show three episodes and talk about their experience. I was immediately hooked, and it will be a special moment to come full circle and be the one who is interviewing them rather than watching someone interview them as I did in class years ago.
