It is an almost certainty that RESOLUTION hasn’t been on your radar. But just in time for Halloween, if you want a truly clever horror film to sit down and watch during this season of cinematic terror, this is your movie. There aren’t any zombies, and no slasher to speak of, but there are some extremely creepy supernatural elements here blended with a good amount of comedic dialog to warrant a viewing of this movie.
In an abandoned cabin on the edge of an Indian reservation, Mike (Peter Cilella) stages a risky intervention to force his friend Chris (Vinny Curran) off meth and into rehab. But what begins as an attempt to save his friend’s life takes an unexpected turn when ominous threats start appearing around the house – and they realize that Chris’s addictions are the least of their worries.
One of the most talked-about discoveries of last year’s festival circuit, Resolution is genre-bending horror at its most bone-chilling.

Worth noting about this movie is the performances of the two leads. They are utterly fantastic and if they were anything less than that, this wouldn’t have worked at all. Especially Vinny Curran, who might be channeling a little bit of Tyler Labine, but that’s not a bad thing at all. Resolution isn’t mindblowingly original, and it’s a bit of a slow burn, too. None of that should matter as it is still an extremely clever horror film and one that strays from the status quo. Cinedigm is doing great work, and this is just another example of that.
