SNL Highlights: Mr. Senior Wants Christmas to Wait, Waking Up With Kimye

Lady Gaga did a whole lot of singing on Saturday Night Live this week, but the sketch that had me rolling with laughter was a Weekend Update bit all about how Christmas needs to wait and let Thanksgiving have its moment. Mr. Senior goes on and on about how the Christmas season is just too damn long, and I agree with him and his crazy antics at every turn. Call me a scrooge if you want, but there need to be some limitations on just how long we let the Christmas season extend! Watch Keenan’s Mr. Senior run around New York City and put people in their place about the holidays:

The other stand out sketch of the night was “Waking Up with Kimye” starring Jay Phaoroh’s excellent Kanye impression and Nasim’s tried and true Kim Kardashian. It could have been trimmed down a bit, but was still so strong that I barely minded. While hard pressed to pick just one moment, I have to give it up for this moment:   snl-kimye   Watch the whole “Waking Up With Kimye” bit:

Other odds and ends from the episode:

  • Lady Gaga knows how to poke fun at herself! From opening number to the final sketch where she plays a forgotten star, she’s definitely in on every joke and possesses the confidence to be so self-depreciating.
  • The goodbye to Blockbuster started off so well but it lost me in the magical woods.
  • Introducing Rosé Zone: Only the trashiest moments from every reality show on one channel.

About Kristal Bailey

With a soft spot for movies that fall into the “So Bad They’re Good” category, Kristal Bailey regularly watches B-movies, 80s comedies, and sci-fi from the 50s and 60s. She also refuses to grow up if that means she has to hide her love for Disney and Pixar films. In her free time, she enjoys reading graphic novels or books that are soon to be turned into movies, watching hours and hours of television, and spending way too much time on Twitter.
