1700 Broadway, New York has DC Comics address for the past 75 years. This Friday, they have closed their doors and relocated to sunny Burbank in California!
The reason for the move is so that DC can be closer to their partner, Warner Bros. Studios (the people behind Batman vs Superman, and other movie and TV adaptions). Which, if DC still plans on competing with Marvel, is inevitable for the company.
This is what the company wrote on its Facebook page about the move,
DC Comics has been part of New York City – and vice versa – for decades. As we prepare to complete the move to our Burbank headquarters we want to thank the people of New York and all those who have worked in the office there for being an important part of our history. It’s never easy to say goodbye but we are excited about the future and everything it holds.
However the move to California will happen sometime in 2015. DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson shades some light on the company’s timeline for the move in an email she sent to her staffers.
The move is not imminent and we will have more than a year to work with the entire company on a smooth transition for all of us, personally and professionally. For the rest of the email, click here.
This isn’t the first time a comic book company stretched itself to different locations. For example, Marvel Comics has four different locations; two of them being New York and Burbank.
Speaking of Marvel, the company responded to the news of the move with this tweet.
