Call of Duty has established itself as one of the most dominating game franchises in recent memory. Every year, the release of the next installment creates mass hysteria world wide, and it should be no different in November when Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is released. However, this game will be striking new ground for this series, as the setting is different than any one before in the franchise: space.
“We are moving to a different dimension which we’ve always wanted to do. Somewhere we’ve never been before,” said Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki at the Comic Con panel today.
Joining Kurosaki on stage at the panel were Jeff Negus, Director of Photography, and Brian Bloom, writer and actor who plays the lead role of Captain Nick Reyes.
The story of the game deals with a military group who are on the hunt for resources in space. As they explained in the panel, where there are resources, there are people who will want to get them.
The chief villain in the game is Admiral Salen Kotch, an all powerful character who will be voiced by none other than Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones Fame! Kurosaki gave some insight to the character, which was followed by an incredible video clip of Harrington filming his work with motion capture technology.
“The bad guys have a bunch of leaders but admiral Saven Coch he commands the biggest baddest most heavily armed ship in their fleet he’s after Reyes and his crew.”
After this clip package, three of the actors from the game join the panel: Jamie Hyder, Jeffrey Nordling, and David Hartwood. Known best for his roles in Supergirl, Homeland, and Blood Diamond, Hartwood told the crowd that he is an avid gamer, and that working on Call of Duty was a dream come true for him.
“It’s a whole different experience. I’ve been gaming for 30 years you can envision what it looks like and sounds like. I’ve spent all of my money on the Call of Duty so when I found out I was going to be in it it was one of the best moments of my acting career. I literally cannot wait to play this game.”
Towards the end of the panel, they showed some real gameplay footage from a demo that included raiding a city under attack by alien robots, culminating in a Star Wars-esque space craft fight where the player is in control at all times of the aircracft. That footage can be viewed below.
