Venice Film Festival invites TINKER, TAILER, SOLDIER, SPY to open the festival

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy has been invited to open the Venice Film Festival.

The movie is directed by Tomas Alfredson, who made Let The Right One In, and is based on a novel by classic crime writer John Le Carré.

It follows a retired intelligence agent named George Smiley whose called back from retirement to find a high-ranking member of MI6 is suspected of being a Soviet mole.

The script comes from Peter Morgan who has previously penned The Queen, Frost/Nixon and last year’s Hereafter.

It was also made into a BBC mini-series which has been widely regarded as one of the finest British TV series’ ever.

The cast also includes upcoming star Tom Hardy, last year’s Oscar winner Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong, Toby Jones and even John Hurt.

It is due for a September release in the UK and a U.S. release a few months after.

This is in my top 5 most anticipated films of the year and is one certain to be considered for Oscars. Are you excited about it?
