Ben Affleck directing Stephen King’s THE STAND?

Ben Affleck could direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s THE STAND. Deadline reports that the ARGO director is at the top of Warner Bros’ list to direct the adaptation of the book for the big screen.

The book was adapted last for TV in the form of a miniseries in 1994. The story deals with “a full-scale apocalypse, driven by the accidental release of a biological weapon and the ensuing struggle of good versus evil carried out by the world’s final survivors.”

Affleck is currently filming ARGO, but this could be one of his projects in the future. I loved GONE BABY GONE and THE TOWN and think that he would be a great choice to direct this film. What are your thoughts?
