KICK-ASS 2 Moving Ahead At Universal Pictures
Kick-Ass fans rejoice, a sequel looks to be on the way from Universal Pictures. HeatVision reports that the studio is in talks with Matthew Vaughn to develop a second adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. comic.
The first film was directed, produced and self financed by Vaughn, with distribution handled by Lionsgate. Vaughn is producing the sequel and has tapped Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down) to direct. Vauhn penned the script the for the sequel, which is an adaptation of both Kick-Ass 2, and the Hit-Girl spin-off that hits stores next month. According to reports, the first act will focus on the Hit-Girl storyline. Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are set to reprise their roles. Universal is planning a September start date.
I loved the first film, and am very happy to see a sequel headed into production. It makes complete sense to combine both books into one movie, because it took forever to get this sequel moving. I would hate to wait another few years for that film.
