Tribeca Film Festival 2013: 12 Must-See Movies

Staring tonight and going through Sunday, April 28, NYC once again plays the happy host to the Tribeca Film Festival. Now in its 12th year, TFF will show 89 feature films and 60 shorts, hold 3 Galas, display 5 Transmedia pieces, host 3 Tribeca Drive-In® screenings, and present 23 Tribeca Talks® panel discussions.

Chosen from more than 6,000 submissions, the 2013 TFF selections come from 37 countries and include 53 feature and 30 short film world premieres.

Among the multitude of intriguing films selected for this year’s festival, the 12 films below are representative of the best TFF 2013 has to offer.

1...Adult World..(USA • Narrative • World Premiere)
Director: Scott Coffey
Cast: Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, John Cusack, Armando Riesco, Cloris Leachman, Shannon Woodward

An unworldly, twenty-something, wannabe -poet works at a local sex shop to put some money in her pocket, while chasing an elusive mentorship with a hermitlike writer.

2...Before Midnight..(USA • Narrative • New York Premiere)
Director: Richard Linklater
Cast: Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy, Xenia Kalogeropoulou, Ariane Labed, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick

The third chapter in the romantic-but-realistic tale of Jesse and Celine, set nine years after the events of Before Sunset.

3...Big Bad Wolves..(Israel • Narrative • World Premiere)

The morning after killing a man with his plow during a nighttime snowstorm, Bruce awakes to find that he’s trapped himself in a prison of his own making.
