A PROPHET Remake On The Way From Sony
A Prophet is set to have an English-language remake. Variety reports that the rights to Jacques Audiard’s Oscar-nominated French hit has been purchased by Sony Pictures. Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe are set to produce. A Prophet tells the story of a imprisoned young man’s rise after being mentored by an powerful crime boss. Keep reading for more details.

According to Variety the news was revealed by Columbia Pictures pres Doug Belgrad, along with the studio’s president of production Hannah Minghella.
“We think ‘A Prophet’ will translate perfectly for English-speaking audiences,” Minghella said.
Sony has a relationship with the film already, so this purchase is not a huge surprise. Sony Pictures Classics distributed the original in 2010, which made $2 million domestically and grossed nearly $16 million overseas.
