LEGO: THE HOBBIT Game Announcement Trailer

Now that The Desolation of Smaug is out and about, the once-rumored, now-confirmed Lego: The Hobbit game has released its first official trailer. Check it out below:

The trailer for the Lego: The Hobbit game borrows some dialogue and scenes directly from the film, but it’s unsure if the game will. This is not normally par for the course with the gooftastic Lego games, which tend to use Simlish-type gibberish for their blocky protagonists. It’s most likely follow the same basic plot of the first 2 films, with Bilbo Baggins following the Dwarves to take back Ereborn from the dragon Smaug. The trailer also seems to focus purely on content from the first game, even though the game will cover both An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. I assume this is due to the fact the second film premiered last weekend, and WB Games want to avoid icky spoilers (Spoiler alert: there’s a dragon).

I’m also expecting TT Games to ramp up the hijinks, as per their normal MO of making light-hearted spoofs of relatively serious material. It looks good for a larf. Expect the Lego: The Hobbit game sometime in 2014 for Xbox 360/One, PlayStation 3/4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
