The Green Goblin: A Pop Icon
Did you catch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in theaters? If you haven’t then you are seriously missing out on all that is Spidey; web squirting, crazy stunting, New York City exploding Spidey! The film has been highly anticipated since the announcement of not one, but two legendary villains being brought to life in this new installment of the franchise, and notably what makes this film so exciting for the fans is the official reveal of the new face behind the infamous Green Goblin – actor Dane DeHaan (who’s performance may just rival that of Heath Ledger’s Joker).
It’s been a while since the evil incarnation of Norman (and later, Harry) Osborn graced our screens, so we’re taking a little look back at the Green Goblin’s impact on pop culture since he first graced the comic book pages, back in July 1964.
Throughout his lifetime, our verdant villain has appeared in a host of games, his first gaming incarnation being in the 1982 Atari 2600 Spider-Man game; rather basic and involving Spidey scaling a 2d building more skin to an oil rig than the splendour of New York City, it was nonetheless a solid outing in an era that contained the eternally derided ET video game. Later, the character appeared in 2005’s positively received, ‘Ultimate Spider Man’, although players were quick to deride the incredibly difficult boss battles- whoever said defeating the grassy ghoul would be easy!
More recently, and reflecting the exponential rise in mobile and online casino gaming, TitanBet have released a new game, ‘Attack of the Green Goblin’. Expect excitement, danger and glee as players can now win big whilst they stick it to and defeat the mossy megalomaniac!
Want to emulate the grassy ghoul himself? Why not buy these wonderful green ears! Coupled with the aforementioned skateboard and a pumpkin or two, you could be terrorising cities and populations by the end of the week!
Ladies, if the skateboard didn’t do it for you but your ears pricked up at the above, then these beautiful yet understated earrings might be right up your alley. With a colour combination that could also work for fans of The Hulk or Batman’s Joker, there’s no better way to portray your geeky side or attain an easy Halloween costume than these beauties!
