Full-length Trailer for David Fincher’s GONE GIRL Hits!

Leading up to now, the marketing for David Fincher’s Gone Girl has been more about evoking the moodiness of the material than the material itself. From the play on words that made up the first poster…

Gone Girl

To the “clue” posters that were recently released, nobody had really gotten a good idea of what Gone Girl was about, except that it was a mystery starring Ben Affleck and directed by David Fincher. With the second trailer for the film, based on Gillian Flynn’s best selling novel, the picture has come into focus.

Set to the voice-over of Amy (Rosamund Pike), the trailer hits on all of the main characters, including the first glimpse of Neil Patrick Harris as a former lover of Amy’s, and Happy Endings’ Casey Wilson as her best friend.

With a screenplay by Flynn, Gone Girl looks to hew very close to the novel, which focuses on the disappearance of Amy and the investigation into her disappearance. As the police continue their search, it begins to look more and more obvious that Amy was murdered by her husband, Nick (Affleck).

That’s one thing this trailer makes clear: everyone thinks Nick killed his wife. Everyone. But…did he actually do it?

Find out on Oct. 3.

Ryan Hill

Ryan Hill used to spend his time writing screenplays into a notebook instead of doing homework. That love of film and all things storytelling led him to spend most of his time writing. He's been a film critic in North Carolina for over five years, and his debut novel, THE BOOK OF BART, is out now. Please buy it. Ryan also feels odd about referring to himself in the third person.
