GEEKY PET MOMS: Becky Altomere
Everywhere we turn, we often see a family with their pet, walking around and enjoying life. A dog, cat, lizard, hamster, rat and so on. Our pets are our family members and they love us no matter what and will always be there when we need a buddy to lean on. They change our lives and make us better people. The goal of “Geeky Pet Moms” is to showcase all the awesome ladies out there who live a geeky and wonderful life with their cool pets.
Meet geeky cat mom Becky Altomere! She’s a doctor’s coordinator at a dentist’s office in Florida. She lives with her husband Joe Altomere and their cat Ash. Check out the little interview I did with her below:
What does being a geek mean to you?
Having an appreciation above and beyond for movies, TV shows, and video games. Not just liking them for what they are, but taking it a step or two or twenty further.
How many pets do you own/have owned?
We currently have one cat. We had two cats for a while but had to give the other away.
Do you consider yourself a cat lady only?
No. Growing up I never had any pets and I always wanted a dog. When I moved in with my husband (boyfriend at the time), Joe, he already had Ash. I couldn’t be happier to have him. I still like dogs but for us a cat is best.
What is your cat’s name?
His full name is Ashley James Williams Altomere. We call his Ash for short. He is named after Ash from The Evil Dead.
Do you think it’s good that pet mom’s name their pet after pop culture icons and fictional characters?
Of course! It is fun and always a topic of conversation.
Do you and Joe have any plans to add more cats to the family?
No. We tried that and it didn’t really work out. Also, it is expensive enough with just one.
What are some geeky outfits you’ve dressed pets in?
I’ve never dressed a pet up. That is just not for me.
What shows do you watch?
I watch a wide range of shows such as: Game of Thrones, Gilmore Girls, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, a lot of Game Show Network, a lot of Food Network, Parks and Recreation, Friends, Seinfeld, Roseanne, Family Guy, American Dad, and more.
Where to begin? In no order: Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, True Lies, The Birdcage, The Big Chill, Tremors, Groundhog Day, Disney movies, and more.
Any kids in the future?
Maybe. We are very happy with how our life is right now. So for now we are going to keep things just as they are.
Becky and her husband Joe, live in a house full of anything and everything related to pop culture. Each room has something that you’ll be familiar with if you’re a fan of anything in the world of pop culture. They both live a fun life full of geeky goodness.
